The Magic of Espresso Martinis and Tim Tams

The Magic of Espresso Martinis and Tim Tams

Today is World Food Day, and what better way to celebrate than to try something a little... different. That’s what today is all about after all, isn’t it?

We reckon this dynamite combo will give you a kick, satisfy your sweet tooth, and impress your friends—all at the same time. The secret? Pairing espresso martinis and... Tim Tams! Stay with us, it’s going to get even more interesting. We’re about to share with you a little known secret that will turn this experience into a revelation. First, the espresso martini.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • 50ml vodka (try Smirnoff Red)

  • 35ml Coffee liqueur (try Molly’s Irish Cream)

  • 1 shot of espresso (capsules/pods are great for this)

  • Ice

  • A martini glass

  • Cocktail shaker

  • Strainer

  • A packet of original Tim Tams (all will be revealed!)

TIME TO SHAKE THINGS UP

  1. Chill the martini glass with ice.

  2. In a cocktail shaker, pour the the vodka, coffee liqueur, and espresso, then add the ice (chunky is better).

  3. Pop the top of the cocktail shaker on, give it a little whack to lock it in, and shake it (like a Polaroid picture). It’s the breaking of the ice that makes a creamy froth, so don’t hold back (remember, it’s all in the hips!)

  4. Arms tired? Perfect. Firmly tap, then open the cocktail shaker, tip the ice out of the martini glass, and watch your friends drool as you pour the creamy goodness through a strainer or sieve (helps with the froth) into the glass.

THE FINAL STRAW

Here’s the best part! Remember those Tim Tams we mentioned? We’re going to make chocolate straws by biting off each end and sucking the espresso martini through them. As the rich, creamy liquid from the martini fills the Tim Tam, it softens the biscuit layers, making each bite melt in your mouth with the beautifully blended taste of choc and coffee. Yummo!

This one is a real crowd pleaser so be prepared with plenty of supplies from your local Cellarbrations!
