Is this the Typical Play-by-Play ‘Straya Day?

With Australia Day just around the bend, it got the Cellarbrations team to thinking. What does the typical Australia Day look like for our shoppers? There are so many great things about being Australian, but nobody can deny that being with friends and loved ones is a huge part of the day. What else? Well, we decided to put together a play-by-play account of what the typical Australia Day might look like. Enjoy!

Australia Day: Play-by-Play

6:00 am: Wake up, curse at alarm clock (that you forgot to cancel for your day off).

6:09 am: Wake up (again), realising accidentally snoozed alarm instead of turning off.

7:25 am: Wake up (yet again), and decide weather’s too good to stay in bed.

7:45 am: Grab boardies, rally the troops, and head for a morning surf. (Or, if you're too far from a beach, jump into your coolest mate's swimming pool.)

8:50 am: Hit local brekkie place for a hefty portion of smashed avo on toast.

9:30 am: Head home, don thongs and favourite summer shirt, and head to local supermarket to stock up on BBQ supplies for later.

10:45 am: Drop by local Cellarbrations to see what the Australia Day specials are. Find heaps of bargains and call mates to help you carry back home.

12:30 pm: Grab slab of suitably chilled XXXX Summer Bright Lager & Lime for the blokes, a few bottles of Jacob’s Creek Le Petit Rose for the ladies, your new portable bluetooth speaker (from Santa), and cricket set. Meet everyone down the park for some Oz Day antics.

1:50 pm: Finally get a game of cricket going to the soundtrack of 2016’s hottest tunes.

3:10 pm: Decide it’s too hot, and make way to beach (or that cool mate's pool) for a refreshing arvo swim.

4:00 pm: Head home and bump into neighbours chilling in yard. Suss out their plan, and invite them over on the condition that they bring their own supplies.

5:25 pm: Stoked to see neighbours deliver the goods. A few bottles of McGuigan Black Label Red and plenty of Jim Beam & Cola.

7:30 pm: Crack open NV Mumm Cordon Rouge Champagne to toast beautiful Australian sunset. Year’s best tunes get people reminiscing and sharing stories of their 2016. Good vibes.

8:30 pm: Flick on Australian Open to see who Murray’s beating. Argue about Murray’s likability and interview style.

9:35 pm: Roll out the Absolut Vodka & mixer to keep thoughts of heading off early well out of people’s minds.

10:05 pm: Look around at amazing mates and feel proud to be ‘Strayan. Tell stories until sides hurt from laughing.

12:03 am: Congratulate yourself for ‘staying up late’ and call it a night. Sneak box of lamingtons on way to bed. Drift off, rolling face onto open box of lamingtons.

Next Day

6:00 am: Wake up to dog licking lamington off face. Realise you don’t own a dog… too tired to care. Snooze alarm.

Whatever you decide to do on Australia Day, make sure you check out the drinks on offer at your local Cellarbrations. We’ve also got heaps of specials in our online catalogue at our specials page.

Happy ‘Straya Day from all of The Cellarbrations team!
